A dear friend of mine has a sister who is dying of cancer. I can't even imagine what that would be like. As confusing and painful as this has been for my friend and her family, I can't help but think of the song "Be Still My Soul."
"Be still my soul, the day is hastening on
When we shall be forever with the Lord,
When disappointment, grief, and fear are gone,
Sorrow forgot, love's deepest joys restored.
Be still my soul: when change and tears are past
All safe and blessed we shall meet at last."
Hope can seem like an unattainable goal at times, but we know that we have a hope that goes beyond death - a hope that transcends the power of the grave. Unfortunately, my friend's sister will not likely live on this earth for much longer. But praise God for the hope of His Son.
