Which Tells of the Author's Thoughts on Traveling

So, even though I'm in Europe, and I'm having a really good time, I'm really looking forward to that flight back to the good ol' U.S.A. It's amazing, actually. I've seen some amazing things and met some really cool people, but the thoughts of being at home with my family are crowding around the edges of my mind like the crowds of people crowd around the Mona Lisa. They don't change the fact that Mona Lisa's having a good time just hanging around on the wall there, but it does distract a bit from her view of her fellow paintings (I'll admit, the analogy sort of falls apart at this point, but I'm tired).

But I still have some amazing things to do and see. And Minnesota will be the same in 2 weeks as it is today. (Probably a bit better, actually, because of the 4th!)

I wonder if most travelers feel this way, or if it's just because I'm traveling by myself again. Or if it's just because it's been nearly seven months since I've seen my family. Fellow travelers, what are your experiences? Do you hit a wall where you just want to go back home?

Yes....I agree, there comes a point when you just want to go home (to the home you haven't been to in a while)...but then you get to the point in your summer where you just want to be back home (to the home you've spent your past year). Or maybe you just get to a point where you don't want to be living out of a suit case anymore. :)

Yes! Definitely was ready to come home in June! And it's been worth it. Of course, I decided not to go back to the DR for a second year, so now I'm excitedly looking ahead versus getting geared up to go back in a month. I think living abroad = hitting a wall in 5-7 months of no visits home, and living abroad/traveling with no companion = hitting that wall sooner!
