Well, my roommates and I are starting a book club with the following books (Sorry I've done so many lists lately):
January: "The Old Man and the Sea" by Ernest Hemingway
February: "Atlas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand
March: "Gilead" by Marilynne Robinson
April: "Catch 22" by Joseph Heller
May: "Crossing to Safety" by Wallace Stegner
June: "Paradise Lost" by John Milton
July: "Pilgrim's Progress" by John Bunyan
August: "A Farewell to Arms" by Ernest Hemingway
September: "The Picture of Dorian Gray" by Oscar Wilde
October: "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy
November: "One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich" by Alexander Solzhenitsyn
December: "The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane" by Kate DiCamillo
I'm excited.

Let me know if you like Gilead. I did not. But, I suppose that's because I had to read it for class. Maybe I should give it another go. Let me know what you think.
If you get through Pilgrim's Progress I will be SO impressed!! Have tried many times and always find myself yawning. Dreadful, I know!! Looks like a great list. Happy reading!!

I would love to join you. Thanks for the invite. I am in Europe right now and will probably not be able to join you for January. Feb. sounds great though. When and where are we going to meet?
I, personally, think you should have thrown a childrens book in there, just to spice it up a bit. I recommend, "The BFG" by Roald Dahl. But being as you're probably an avid reader, you probably could take it on along with another.
Just thought I'd throw that out there...
So...I tried writing a comment yesterday and my internet cut me off. Here's what I think I said:
Cool, a book club! I want to be in a book club! Of the books on your list, I've only read Gilead and Dorian Gray, both of which were kinda slow but beautifully written. I felt like a better person after reading them. :)
